Semi-Frameless Shower Cleaning and Maintenance

Adding a semi-frameless shower to your bathroom is a wonderful way to enhance the style and beauty of the room, but when the glass becomes dirty, even the most elegant shower can be an eyesore. Plus, in addition to spoiling the appearance of your beautiful shower, the build-up of bacteria and toxins can also be dangerous to your health. Following are some helpful tips to help keep your semi-frameless shower clean and germ-free.

Cleaning with Vinegar
Did you know that some cleaning products can kill bacteria and remove soap scum from your shower, but not all will get rid of mold? Cleaning with distilled white vinegar is a great way to ensure your shower is left mold-free.
If the glass is dry, wet it using regular water and then take a small squeegee and clear the water from the glass. After that, use a spray bottle with undiluted white vinegar and cover the area you want to clean. Next, just spray it clean with regular water to remove the hard water deposits and minimize their chance to stain the glass.

Removing Tough Stains with Baking Soda
Use baking soda with a little tap water to make a “runny paste” and apply it on a cleaning cloth or sponge. Use this formula along with some elbow grease to remove tough, hard water stains and other grime including mildew buildups on faucets and tile.

Pre-Cleaning with Fabric Softener
Fabric softener like Bounce can also remove soft soap scum build-up and even loosen other stains and buildup that would otherwise be hard to remove in your shower. Take a sheet of fabric softener to the dry glass and scrub. This will loosen tough buildup and remove the lighter stains. Then take some tap water and your trusty squeegee or vinegar solution to finish the job.

Cleaning with WD-40
Did you know that you can use WD-40 to clean the glass in your shower? Simply spray it on the inside and outside of the door. Wipe it away with a clean dry towel to remove dirt, soap scum, calcium deposits and more.

Preventing stains on semi-frameless shower doors
The tips above work great when your glass doors become dirty, but you can prevent them from staining in the first place by wiping them down after each shower. Simply take a squeegee and clear off the excess water. It takes only a few minutes, but it will eliminate the need to clean the shower door more frequently.
